How To Tell If Your Roof Is Damaged

So how do you know your roof is damaged? By doing regular roof inspections and doing little repairs as needed, you can avoid any leaks and most importantly the need for major and costly roof repairs. A well maintained home also fetches a good price if you ever decide to put your house on the market. It is recommended that you do a roof inspection at least twice a year. So what do you look for when doing a roof inspection?

You should always start inside your house. Get inside the attic and look for places where the roof is sagging, where there are signs of water damage, where light is coming in from outside and where there are dark stains or spots indicating a leaky roof.

After this, go outside and look at the roof. Note any missing or damaged tiles and any signs of rot and growth of algae. Rot, mold and algae are signs of moisture. Also note any ill-fitting, misaligned or buckling tiles. Check around the chimneys, vents for any signs of wear, tear, and loose material. Check your gutters for any signs of debris. When your tiles are really worn down, they disintegrate and appear as large particles of sand in your gutters. With quality durable roofing and regular roof inspections, your roof will last for a long time. For a roofing inspection done by a professional, check out www.walkerroofing.com.
