Drying Out A Home After Large Leaks

When your house has been battered by a storm, you want to ensure that you dry it out as soon as possible. Leaving your home damp after a large leak can lead to growth of mold and fungi. It takes a mere 48 hours for mold to start growing, provided there is moisture and the conditions are ideal.

Carpets are typically the first victims of mold growth, and if a carpet is old with some amount of dirt, it may start smelling moldy within hours of being exposed to water. This scenario refers to very small growths of mold that are only at microscopic levels. It’s only after a week or more that you may be able to see the mold with your naked eye. Of course, there are always exceptions because conditions in every house are different. Water damage should never be left alone, be sure to contact your local restoration company to take care of just that.
